Thin shelled eggs are not uncommon with new layers, even if they are getting calcium.
Thanks! Actually i got another egg it's the most beautiful thing ever
I have read on here, you should not feed egg shells from store bought eggs. I would just wait for the Oyster Shell and put in a separate container near feed.View attachment 1317844. GC
Hi again, just saw the pic of your hen eating out of the oyster shell feeder. Is that a golden sexlink? Thats the breed of my hens who started laying today...so pretty your hen is

Yes, she's a Golden Comet. She is a remarkable girl. She was attacked by a Coopers Hawk at 7 months of age. 20161112_093000.jpg . 20161110_125612.jpg . I heard the commotion and rushed out to see the hawk in a tree.
Other than missing some feathers, she was unharmed physically. It has made all of the girls more weary.
She is my friendliest girl who comes to me wanting to be held. GC

She's song strong to survive a hawk attack! Both my hens who started laying the last two days are both Golden Comets. It's an amazing breed, and they're both so affectionate. One, Daisy, is so calm, she let's me literally stic my hand in the nesting box and take videos while she's laying, and doesnt make a peep when shes done! Also Golden Comets produce beautiful eggs.
You're hen is beautiful.
