I dunno if its because another country/ different upbringing for crows, but crows here are bad news for little chooks, particularly silkies and fluffy chicks but yes I have never seen hawks come near the crows. My way of deterring my eager falcon friend was hanging DVDs all around the hen house and the trees and it worked a treat. It may work for the hawk too and if he moves on you can then take them down?There was discussion in another thread about crows being a good deterrent for hawks. And it seems to work for us; I know there are a lot of red-tailed hawks in our area but we are not much troubled by them and crows visit daily. They are usually out there pecking where DH throws the scratch grains out for the chickens twice daily.
