No crows

Do you have other roosters?
I got a white silkie rooster Friday and he hasn't crowed hardly any since I got him. I think if you have other roosters then he is probably lower in the pecking order, and he probably just doesn't have anything to crow about! lol

DJ is the only rooster. For now he has two laying hens and 2 more (3 mos old) to be introduced in the near future. He normally crows in the morning, afternoons sometimes, and late evenings. Except for other roosters, why does a rooster stop crowing?

I have no clue what makes a rooster stops crowing. My guy crows morning, noon, and night! He never hushes not that i mind his rooster thoughts during my day.

I got a 2 yr old rooster from a friend who had 4 others. He said my roo (BN) was the quietest most well tempered RIR roo he had and bc I had a young child I went for that. He DID crow there in his old home. I brought him home, put him with my 5 hens and he never heard him crow again. NEVER. until tonight that is. we hatched out some of their babies in Dec and so today we combined my 16 week old babies with my older flock and BN. BN had been the most quiet calm docile roo ever. And such a pretty guy too. Then I add his son today at cockeral age and all of a sudden he wont stop crowing at him! He was NOT happy about the additions! And he's telling me about it! LOL so please, don't worry! I'm sure there's nothing wrong with your roo except he has nothing to crow about :-)

He eats and drinks OK, I've notice he's not grunting (growling) as much as usual. Do they get sore throat sometimes? My husband said it sounded like he was a little raspy at the end of his crow a few days ago.
