i used egg shaped chulk eggs and a gulf ball... i like the gukf balls better they played and pecked at the chulk ones not severly but they did.
i them in there for months just took them out today put fresh and softer hay in nest box... hopping that encourages... ive also found sheets to make curtains heard thats helpful tho its pretty low light inside if i keep top windows closed... any link to best curtain ideas??

I never used golf balls or curtains. I think once you have the first one laying in a nest the others follow suit. This morning I had 3 laying in the same nest. They all laid within 15 minutes. LOL. Its so funny to watch them. I have my security camera set up in the coop so I can watch them lay from in the garage. It records all day long so if I'm not home I can go back and check the days events...I know exactly who layed at what time...the things we do for our chickens.lol

ive got some of those can put in coop they have motion sensers so it just records when something is moving. stays on a while then goes off after a few mins no movement. that eould be useful to know whats going on in thst coop from tome to time.

Yes when I am off I enjoy watching the girls lay their eggs while I'm having a coffee.

they are squating for ol copper all over the place.. not for me though.. noooo egg again.
is it a bad thing if nests look laid in... someones been in them i can tell. they must be doing it early in the morning or sonewhere in the night because ive checked around 12am and they were on roosts ..all of em. unhappy with me i might add for the desturbance.

Anytime between now and 6+ weeks from now - are you seeing indications of them getting close such as the reddening of combs/wattles, a submissive squat, interest in the nest boxes, etc?

anything like my barreds and blk jg and one austrolorp it will be a spell mine are 24 weeks now.. still waiting.
