Normally you would only want to put a hole in the air cell. Is it possible the air cell shifted? It may be farther down the egg now. It does move as the gosling gets into position for hatching.

There's a tiny air sac at the blunt end yesterday it was huge. You can't see anything now it's all black except that tiny air sac and some movement.
