This may sound really odd, but i know this rooster who is 6+ months old and hasnt started crowing (Yes it is a rooster lm talking about) just also found out theres another one whose not started crowing (These guys were brought up together and hasnt started fighting) like they sqeak but they dont crow.. is there really a breed out there that doesnt crow? i've also heard that a rooster crows
a) because he doesnt feel safe
b)Its natural...
Any explainations would help. maybe they dont just dont crow?

Welcome to BYC! Glad you decided to join our flock. There is no breed of chicken in which the roosters do not crow, but some individual roosters do not begin crowing until much later than others. On rare occasions a rooster will not begin crowing until he is 8 or 9 months old. I'm sure at some point your rooster will begin crowing. Please feel free to ask any other questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck with your flock.

Most people would love to have roosters that don't crow. Do you have an older rooster who may be intimidating them?

no, as i said theres another one thats the same age came from the same flock. they haven't fought or crowed. so weird. theyre are hens present obviously but they literally just walk around with everyone else as if there best friends.

Hello there and welcome to BYC!

I agree with Michael here. Sometimes they need to age a bit before they start in on the crowing. Give them time. All roosters crow. :-)

Welcome to our flock!

I have a white silky bantam chicken whose mannerisms are like a rooster but doesn't crow. He/she hops onto a hen and begins to do-whatever-they-do when they do this action. He/she pecks and rides the hen all the time and our other (verified) rooster stands and pecks her head too.

DO ALL ROOSTERS CROW?

Thanks
Bette
