Non retracting manhood on drake...

Our 4 month old drake has a spring-like man part that isn't retracting. About half of it is dark crusty brown, and it looks necrotic. Is there anything that can be done to resolve it, or make him more comfortable?

That said, I can't say that I've noticed him behaving any differently than his brother. I'd post pictures, but I don't know how inappropriate that would be.

You can try applying antibiotic ointment to his penis and trying to keep his environment clean. There is always the possibility that part of it will have to be removed if it is truly necrotic. Good luck.

I just read all 8 pages at this thread...

I guess knowing what to call it helped find others with similar problems. Kids are going to catch him again, and we will cut off the necrotic parts. Wife is an ER doc so she has the proper tools.... Fingers crossed.

And it's gone... We cut off all the scabbed/necrotic area. It retracted immediately. A bit of bleeding, but nothing concerning. Added some Neosporin to the cloaca. Now we wait and see...

How awesome to have a doctor in the family.
I would keep him away from the females for at least a week. Just to give it time to heal.
