It just rained 3 inches
Its sooo muddy in some spots where I have to walk
also soon there will come snow and ice
I love my slip on duck boots but the traction is no good
I have heavy duty winter boots with great traction but what a pain to get on and off!
What does everyone else wear?

I have Muck Boots with deep treads, and even those struggle in mud. I ended up laying down a path of wood chips on the most critical areas.

I just wear the regular black boots from Walmart and they work great and I LOVE them. Super comfortable. Great with mud.
It doesn't help that ducks love to make mud 10 times worse!

Depending on the depth of your mud, thus style of snow boot might work. They are super easy to get on and off, the wave tread scrapes easily, it's a waterproof bottom vs the paper feel of Walmart boots I've looked at, and are close in price @$25.

I bought them last December and don't remember ice slips. Not enough ice this year to judge. I have slipped in deep tread rain boots.

I'm a vote for Muck boots or BOGS. I've been able to minimize mud in the duck pen by laying down a thick layer of wood pellets (the kind you use in a wood stove) with wood shavings on top. The pellets break down when they get wet and it all mixes to form a cork-like surface that absorbs water. Works well for me.

Xtratufs, the only boot that is actually nonslip, and I've tried many, many boots, nothing compares. While they might not be the warmest in winter snow, I wear them throughout the year even in winter because they provide the most traction, even on ice. They're as comfortable as a pair of sneakers.
I have 3 pairs of 15" high, and 2 pair of low tops. I wear them 365 days a year (dresses with xtratufs are a high style thing here too, lol.)
I was going to reply that Xtratufs were my main summer shoes when I lived in Alaska... then I saw you are located there! :thumbsup
