North Carolina ban to Kill Numerous Breeds

A side note: killing owner turnins immediately is pretty common. When a shelter is crowded, they have to make room for the dog who hopefully has a family desperately searching for him. The turnin has no such luxury because his family just said "I don't want him" often with some lame excuse.

Personally, i'd like to see those people forced to watch their dog put down.

How sad. My pit bull, Bailey is by far the best dog I have ever owned. She is brilliant, eager to learn and please us and is a wonderful family pet.

Dobermans- Been around plenty never had a issue
Rottweilers- owned two great dogs. Never hurt anyone
Chow Chows- Been around quite a few. With proper training they've all been fine
German Shepherds- Been a lot of them and never felt threatened.
Great Danes- I've been around dozens and never met a mean Dane
Pitbulls- Been around plenty and owned one. One of the sweetest dogs I've ever owned. This breed has gotten a terrible rap.
Mastiffs- Plenty of people own them here. The only means ones are the one's thrown outside from a young age and expected to be a guard dog with no socialization.
Akitas- Love the breed. Never been hurt or even threatened by one.
Huskies- Very intelligent breed. Also a very loving one.

All of the above dog breeds are amazing. Breeds like these have been given bad raps by irresponsible owners and the media. It's just plain ignorant to assume a few individual dogs can ruin the breeds public image.

i think the main issue is the dog fighting rings that use many of these breeds.

that's got nothing to do with it. Dog fighting rings use ALL breeds.....either to fight or to train other dogs to fight. Fighting rings don't normally adopt dogs from shelters....they steal them from people's back yards or breed them themselves.

I guess me & Hoss will BAN North Carolina!
