NH, next time I'll bring the video camera AND my SUNGLASSES so that I can teach her to say IT every time she sees somebody else's SUNGLASSES. LMAO

We did that with my daughter...she had a hard time with speech at 2-3 years old, and would have some very interesting ways to say things, and we got a kick out of it. I know what sunglasses sound like!!!!

So, today is incubation day (well this evening)......

Here are the eggs that I collected from the Post Office this morning. Just 2 I am not sure about - as you will see from their coloring - but the rest should be Barnevelders:

Nice looking eggs eh? Thank-you USPS for their safe delivery.......

Looks like she threw you in 2 extras for variety sake. Looks like one of her Olive Eggers and a Welsummer or Marans egg.

G&A, I might be wrong but I THINK those 2 dark ones indicate a younger hen that is laying. The breeds that lay darker eggs tend to get lighter with age and even laying cycle. So the 2 really dark ones are probably new layers.

I'm looking mostly at cochins, but would also like to see some d'Uccles, and some Old English... and then there's the "anything that stikes my fancy when I see them" catagory, which can never be overlooked.

I do need to watch my space for the moment, though. I've got a batch of meat birds coming in soon, so my brooding area will be occupied. And I need to separate a breeding group of my orps out. I've got 9 hens and a young roo that are black, but all heterozygous for lavender, so I want to set some of those. I'm working on converting my rabbit barn for bantams, and possibly one of the sheep sheds and associated pasture. Depends on how much I like them. (But what's not to like, really? They're chickens! This could be dangerous. I'm entirely open to enabling!)

So, I haven't picked up on all the swaps/sales/shows yet. What is WCA? Times? I'll have to check a map and see if I can come! That would be fun!

By the way...this is by far the most welcoming forum I have ever encountered. Thanks to everyone for he very warm welcome!

HOF, watch out they are super addictive......especially if you have the room. We try to be really friendly with all of our "neighbors" over here! I hope to get to meet you at the WCA sometime soon. I can't go tomorrow but will be able to go the following Sunday.

WCA is the Wicked Chcken Auction in Clayton. Not too far from I95 just outside of Smithfield

The auction starts at 2ish but you can get there earlier to grab good seats and rub elbows with everyone as we drool over the boxes arriving
