Hi Everyone

I need help from everyone who lives in Midland, NC (Sister lives there) the Waynesville, Clyde NC area and anyone near there. My DH purchased a dinner in Maggie Valley and has been there working hard to get it ready to open. I have been staying in Maryland until we sold our house. We have now sold our house and we need to be out by September 2nd. We have a contract on a house in Clyde but don't have a closing date yet. I am looking for somewhere to house my chickens for a few weeks until we go to closing. Preferably with a barn or shed I can close them up in at night. They free range during the day. I can fence in a small part and would be happy to pay rent. I also have two dogs and we are going to try and stay in a hotel in Maggie Valley across from the dinner that excepts pets. So my biggest problem is housing my chickens. If you can help or know of someone I could contact please PM me.

Hugs Karen

Hi Karen,
Unfortunately, I can't help you out with boarding your birds, but~~~what's the name of your new Diner?? We usually stop for lunch on our way to Cherokee, and would love to check it out.

Best of luck with your new endeavour

I'll see you next weekend, lol.

Maggie Valley has a big Apple Festival in October I think it is when it is. First time I went there I think I was in the 7th grade. Ghost Town in the Sky. Mom wouldn't let us ride the swing ride because she was afraid the chains would break and they would find out bodies some where in Kentucky, lol

Bryson makes me think of an ruff and tumble mining town. Dunno why. Maybe because I was there on a 4th of July and it just seemed that way.

Don't like Cherokee. Has become sooooooooooooo comerialized gives me the heebeejeebeez when I drive through. The Indian village and museum run by the tribe is really nice but the rest of it. BLEAH! They had a stuffed buffalo with a stuffed white buffalo calf in front of one business. The story of the White Buffalo isn't even part of Cheroke tradition. BLEAH BLEAH BLEAH!

Hey Coyote - 4 out of the 6 EE's hatched - don't know if you want to make a ride over here for just 4 -- it's up to you. I should take & send ya some pics.

In Bryson we have several craft fairs throughout the year, Fireman's Day parade & fair, Thomas the Train comes every July (a tiny part of the move "The Fugitive" was filmed in Bryson and Sylva - they used the train depot in Bryson, a train in Dillsboro, the train wreck was filmed in Dillsboro & the hospital in Sylva in the movie), tubing on Deep Creek and, oh and there's always the "Road to Nowhere" - ha ha! I wholeheartedly agree about Cherokee - yuck to the nth degree. I have always loved to go watch the outdoor drama though called "Unto These Hills" - my brother was named after a famous Cherokee Indian -- Tsali (we have Cherokee in our background). There's a sign in Bryson that talks about Tsali. The casino does pull in some great talent - I've seen Loretta Lynn perform there and hope to see Larry the Cable Guy this September. They're adding on to the casino and building another hotel next to it - the casino and hotel are huge! Ghost Town in the Sky can't seem to keep owners very long - sad really, it's not all that big, but it's fun. I just wish TSC & Wally World would be closer to me than 30 minutes away. Oh well.

Hi everyone

Sorry it took me so long to post the diner address. We have been packing etc. I can't wait to meet everyone. The diner address is

3253 Soco Road
Maggie Valley, NC 28751

I would love some Wheaton Marans, and BLR Wyndottes. Tubing would love to go I have never been, it's on my list of things I want to do before summer is over.
