Best of luck to you.Yeah... I am thinking they would snatch a chicken up in a second! We are looking in to alternatives so that we can let them all be in the yard together. Here soon we are going to fence in our yard, and plan to free range the chickens. I would like to be able to let the dogs out as well. One of our neighbors just got a new puppy and I am thinkingit is a pit,it is going to be a large dog -- and I will not have it in my yard preying on my little yappers or peckers! Gotta keep em all safe!
DISCLAIMER: I have NOTHING against pitbull dogs. They too can be very sweet dogsI am a pet LOVER, no doubt!
We had a black lab beagle mix who was around the chickens all the time and they were fine. Then one day out of nowhere he just grabbed up one of my Americaunas and broke her neck. Didn't eat her or break skin or anything, just grabbed her and shook his head and her neck snapped. The dog got a new home.... he was only here like 4 months at the time he was a present for my son who begged for a dog and then never played with him and my husband was at his end with the dog chewing everything. I worked hard finding a good home, so hopefully the people take care of him like I hoped. No more dogs for me, sticking with chickens and cats
