Angela, I agree with Meg - don't give up on the eggs... I had a broody get off eggs for a day when it was still cool, she got back on the wrong nest, and she ended up hatching 4/6. I am sure they were cold for 5-7 hours. You just never know.

Sharon, Here's hoping today is better!

I checked the outage map there are small outages all around me, all with "assessing damage" noted - I do believe that means "we'll get to you when we get to you". Guess I will go outside and get some things done. I don't need power to weed the garden!

Thank you! I will candle them tomorrow and see what I've got. They are in my Brinsea mini advance - I am going to order the plug-in cord that allows me to plug it into my car just in case this ever happens again. I've got 23 hatched keets but would really like to get 7 more from this batch to make it 30.

Tomorrow will be the second dusting for the flock. Luckily, we haven't seen any bugs since last weekend but we are going to dust them again just to be sure!

hey guys j have an old water heater from a fish tank can i use that somehow for an incubator? thanks

Absolutely!  As long as it heats enough to keep a steady 99.5 degrees (according to a VERY reliable thermometer).  Give it a try and let us know!

If it was designed to heat water it may not heat air...or may not do it safely. Google to see if anyone has converted a water heater to an air heater, and how they did it.
