I put the chicks into the dog run and when I came back out I found another hole! This one is a little bigger, so I put Cody (our dog) out with them. I took a couple pictures for you guys to see. What ever it was came back some time last night and got into there food.

Allabout, I would bury some mesh wire under there as to hurt any digging paws who try to get in.

It really helps with our pen.

NewHome, Cakes seem to keep you busy huh?! LOL
As for the honeysuckle you may want to find a way to keep away from the poison ivy. I don't think it will affect your jelly, just you! So be careful. Maybe you need a goat? A goat will eat all that up as a snack in no time and keep your yard free of the stuff!!!

It is not cheap, but a couple of rolls of 36" hardware cloth is what you need. 24" up the side of the chain link, the other 12 either buried or angle out at 90 degrees and staked down. The grass will grow through it, but well worth the investment!

I have 8 newly hatched (5/27) Ameraucana chicks from Blue Wheaten and Wheaten Am's for $5 each, straight run. PM me if you are interested.

If you are not within driving distance, I'll have some started birds (pairs, trios) this Fall I can ship.

So the great journey started yesterday early - 4am - to go to Cynthia's to pick up the Firetower hen house that DW - Allison had bought. An uneventful journey there, some drizzle, fog and once it cleared i was a beautiful day. Got to Cynthias with only one wrong turn, got the coop removed from it's legs and on the trailer. Then we found we coudn't get the truck and trailer out. We moved them around and got more stuck! In the end, I called the local U-Haul, they gave me a local wrecker number. Ronnie finally came out, winched the trailer sideways by about 10 feet and we were able to get out!

Many thanks to Cynthia and Tom who sold us the coop, they were so patient, and the Jacob and Jaylin who came with me, and to Kyle and MJ our neighbors who helped with the unloading when we got home.

Pictures will follow very soon as I am on vacation all week!

But until then here is a link to the auction we won!

OK Confession time:
My DD decided we needed to know EXACTLY how many birds are here on the farm. So, we went around and counted
ep.gif

......206 chickens 148 are chicks and 58 adults
Now, remember 1/2 of those chicks will be roosters (at least) and they don't count
gig.gif

27 ducks
15 Quail
6 Guineas
4 peafowl
2 pigeons
4 geese
and 91 eggs in the incubator and 23 eggs under broodies.

He did buy a furnace to put in the barn so I could brood outside in the colder months, since I break all the rules and have bunches of chicks, ducklings etc in the house
