Greeneacre.... sorry to hear about your hen.

MCR... glad to hear your hen is doing better. Sounds like the yellow jacket could be a good possiability. The Tylan..... can that be given in water or only by injection? I really should have some of that on hand. Maybe make up a first aid kit for the chickens.

Any suggestion for a first aid kit????

HT.... Love the new guy, so handsome

CIM... only have the 2 black & 4 Lav. Planning to grow them all out. I will not be giving them up yet.

Update on Pigeons.... went to lock up tonight and female is sitting on the eggs, male is roosting. I need to swap out the chicken eggs for peafowl eggs. Here is the interesting part... these pigeons do not breed or lay. They had a virus when younger and quit breeding, they are just for pretty.

I also found another broody bantam, I gave her 1 peafowl egg. The egg is almost as big as her body

My Silkie has 3 peafowl eggs.

My last hatch is due 7/2. The Dickey will be shut down for the summer. I am really doing it.

So I need broodies to hatch out my peas. I have put over 30 pea eggs in the bator and not one developed. I stick one under a broody and get does

I need one of my Cochin to go broody, bet I could get a dozen under their big butts....

pigeons are something else, they can get very broody and I have been slapped and pecked many a time by both the cock or hen sitting an egg. They are devoted parents and sounds like you got a wonderful pair Beth, congrats.

HT - what a great list...thank you so much for sharing that with us. I am sure we all could benefit from having a first aid kit on hand (hoping and praying to never NEED to use it of course)...what an asset to have during a "crisis"!! Thank you again!!

Chicken Update: So today I went to let my gang out and what do you think I find?? First I find my LO & Blk Orps all crammed in one spot on TOP of the food bin (good thing it's covered with plywood) and
love.gif
my two BO lovebirds Jeremy & Jemimah are cuddled on top of the roost!!

Seeing them use the roost makes DH SO happy!! Jeremy was announcing that it was morning and I needed to get my slow butt out there and open the coop!! (It was only 4:30am...doesn't he know the sun is still sleeping?? Haha) They are getting big and fluffy...I DEFINITELY NEED more!!

No worries...I am getting 4 more and that will suffice until I can convince one of them to go broody and then...then it's EGG TIME!!

Today I am running to the outlet mall (oh joy) in Smithfield. My niece's birthday is coming up next week and I want to get her a special outfit (she is in that dress up phase...LOVE IT). Boy do I HATE shopping by myself. Anyone want to join me??

desitin ? the diaper cream?

Yes, BHep, Desitin the diaper cream.

Diaper cream is usually in a zinc oxide base. The zinc helps healing. The cream covers wounds. The white color covers the red blood or red skin. Applied to a bloody comb or wattles stops or slows the blood flow.

Add that it tastes NASTY and chronic peckers will think twice about attacking that white stuff and you have plenty of good reasons to stock Desitin.
