yes....JL as in Jloeffler.....didn't she say she wanted a BO but was too far away?

Sorry, we had to run to Wally World and I had to clean the pens. Now, I'm not going to the state fair but a friend is! I will see her tomorrow if that's not too late and ask if she would be willing to meet and transport a roo. Would that be acceptable? If you had offers before that that would be fine, but if not...
Edited due to after thought: maybe I can talk DH into going than I can meet everyone!!...

I'm willing if they can do it.....this way you get a roo you want. They will need to bring a travel kennel or something to put him into or I can put him in a box but even with air vents he would need to go back to you in a timely manner. One of those wire kennels or travel kennels would be best and he could rest in a shaded car for awhile then. Let me know what you come up with

It is Saturday we are going.

CSB: just asked DH if he'd be interested in going and he didn't act like he thought it was crazy. DD overheard and is excited. I'll let everyone no later than tomorrow. I've never been to the state fair here. How much is entry and all that? I have a large dog kennel I've transported birds in, that's probably what I would use here too.

Vfem: yay! Good luck with your entries!

My husband and I went Friday night. The funny thing
was, we met a lady when we were visiting the chickens,
and come to find out she lives less than 1 mile from us!
Nice!

Where do you live?

That would be great thank you!

2 pkg. (8 oz. each) PHILADELPHIA Cream Cheese, softened
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs
1/2 cup canned pumpkin
1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
Dash of ground cloves
Dash of ground nutmeg
1 HONEY MAID Graham Pie Crust (6 oz.)
PREHEAT oven to 325°F. Beat cream cheese, sugar and vanilla with electric mixer on medium speed until well blended. Add eggs, 1 at a time, mixing on low speed after each addition just until blended. Remove 1 cup of the batter; stir in pumpkin and spices.

POUR remaining plain batter into crust. Top with pumpkin batter.

BAKE 40 minutes or until center is almost set. Cool. Refrigerate 3 hours or overnight.

My original recipe came for Carolina Country Magazine, but when I went back to look they no longer listed the double layer recipe. This one similar and found the Kraft Foods website. Hope you like it!

HenniPenni, if you are able to keep the silkies apart from full size birds. They have soft skulls, and a peck from one of the larger birds can injure or kill them easily. Would never want that as Silkies are so lovable and huggable.....

We have the hen and the peeps in a hutch and the cockerel is in a wire pen until i can move him to the hutch and take the peeps out. Gonna let her keep the peeps with her for a while. At least until they feather out. I'm sure she will be a better momma than I will if I put them in the brooder.

Thanks for the info. Did not know about their soft skulls.

Just got back from entering Vegetables, 4 photos, and 6 canned goods in the Burke County Fair . 22 entries in so far for me and 25 for Mom. Tomorrow morning the flowers go down. Should have at least 20 each to enter. The fair folks love us, considering between Mom and I we had over a third of last year's flower entries.
