Your EEs and Ameracanas I would start looking at 25-28 weeks old.  The Wyandottes at 30 weeks or so.  The Oprs at 30-35 weeks.  This is just an estimate.  Everybird is different and it also depends on how they were raised.

Hen raised can be slower to maturity. Under a brooder lamp 24/7 for the first several weeks can get them there a little faster since they had the 'good' food all the time and were eating day and night. Freerange birds/chicks can be slower since they get other feed and not just the higher protein chick feed. Any worms or parasite they were exposed to if on the ground can slow them up a bit. Just simple stuff like that.

Good Morning everyone!! I thought I would pop on and share with you a funny "bird" event that happened to me today! I was outside this morning letting chickens/ducks/guineas out and giving them a small amount of feed before letting them roam when out of the blue...WHAM a guinea flies up and tries to perch on my shoulder/head so he/she can have first access to the feed!!

After the initial shock and a moment of "The Birds" fear...I shrugged him/her off. Ultimately I survived unscathed (unlike the lady from the Birds) and had a minor scratch on the side of my head from a foot. Boy are those feet sharp!! LOL.

As for those of you asking about my duck...I do not believe he is flying. I have not seen ANY of the ducks fly - not even when the guineas fly in for a treat...they always just run/waddle in. The neighbor he is "walking to" is our closest neighbor, but he is walking about 1/4 of a mile into the woods to get to the actual house...which caused me to worry as it's dangerous in those woods...there's hawks, coyotes, and even wild boar!! I figure she must have some really GREAT bugs over there...in our case, the bugs are juicier on the other side?

Possibly!?!?!?!?! she only has two chicks and the one won't go near her now while the other is all up in her business.....? It's supposed to be a hen but has lots of roo-ish characteristics so this kind of makes me think she is a he, and momma didn't want any boys LOL.

anybody looking for some help around their house for room and board? this pregnant lady is killing me already

Goodness. Yesterday was just not my day.. I got lost going to the doc (again), I got bit by my moms supposedly nice cat, and almost drowned trying to rescue my dumb Silkies from the rain.

However... Today will be a better day, as I am cleaning out my room so I can move all my furniture around finally, and Today is Candling day for my broody Muscovies eggs. I havent taken a flashlight to hers yet so I am eager to see how they are doing. Also, exactly a week left until Crickets eggs are due
