So cute.  I don't know about you but I feel like a kid waiting for Santa when I've got eggs on lockdown.  I can't wait to see what my 'presents' will be.

I was awful anxious about these eggs. Second time trying to hatch them.

your babies are simply adorable. what is it about baby chicks, lings, puppies, that we all love? your sermas are beautiful, what color will they feather out to be?
you have such beautiful birds... i love the colors you produce... i sure wish we lived closer.

The bigger one is out of a chocolate pen and it is about twice the size of the smaller one. The smaller one is sort of a mystery. It was labeled a bit odd, but the flock owner has suggested that it comes from a mixed pen which has her best rooster and 3 very good hens which are chocolate, black and blue. So, we will have to wait and see what it turns into.

very nice salmon. i bet that was fun reeling in? and the elk is huge. I love elk meat also. where we use to live our neighbor gave us a bunch of moose meat, it was delicious... i really like moose, it it alot like cow/beef meat.
thanks for sharing your beautiful pics. i have only shot a deer, and i cried and thanked her for her life. it is funny how some animals are more emotional to kill, huh? well, thanks again

I understand how you felt about killing the deer. My first kill haunted me. I, like you, always say a Blessing to the animal that I harvest.

Oh, how sad that you hate seafood... it is so delicious.
I would love to travel somemore before i get too old to travel. i love driving and seeing the countryside. My dh & i use to travel alot, but we have settled in this home, we bought 2yrs ago and we are doing a ton of renovations and he is building lots of out buildings for us/animals.
were you born & raised in MA? I was born & raised in Southern Calif. we moved to Idaho 8yrs ago & love it here. If you like rural living and snow, this is the place for you. you might miss the ocean, like i do, but you can get there in about 5 hrs.

It definitely is a shame, wish I liked it lol my parents and one of my brothers do though. I like tuna but that's about it and not even regular tuna, only canned and with mayo on a sandwich, like tuna salad.

You definitely should travel more! We just went up to Maine last weekend but besides that I really don't travel. Most of the places I've been was as a kid, ski trips and driving to visit grandparents plis the year i went to school out there. I need to go more places. Driving the countryside is definitely preferable imo to cities though they can be fun. I can understand that, seems like it keeps you busy. Hopefully you can travel soon :)

Yup, born and raised here! Well, actually not born. My parents lived in Florida for about 20 years before me so we were all born in Tampa, Florida. My older brother was about 5 when we moved here, I was just turning 2, and my little brother had just recently been born. So yeah. But I turned 22 in March so I've been up here 20 years. :)

I definitely love rural/country and snow! Well, not to much snow. I don't know though, I'm sort of on the fence. I love being out in the country, it's so peaceful, but we live in a reall central area. 40 mins from the city, an hour from Cape Cod (lots of beaches and cool stuff), plus only a couple hours from other states and I go into the city a lot for local/smaller touring bands shows and such. And we're close, anywhere from 2 mins to the grocery store, dollar store, auto store, food, to 10 or 15 mins to more shopping, to stores. So I'm not entirely sure I'd like to be completely isolated. Although I could probably give up most shows. It seems bands don't often go that way anyway. Although maybe there is some part of the state that's basically rural but I could still get to some areas? And I've realized, I don't think I have to be as spoiled as I am here within an hour of shows, I could probably drive a few hours. By thrn i may be older and not even want to go to as many anyway.

And wow i had no idea it was so close to the ocean! I told my dad once i liked it out there and he said he wouldnt go because he likes the ocean and wants to stay here or go back to Florida. Maybe he will change his mind when he realizes how close it is or maybe he could live on the ocean like cali, washington, oregon, and be close.

I myself am more of a mountain/lake/river person anyway.

Here's photos of the 2 Serama chicks that hatched this weekend.

So cute! I just love the tiny Serama chicks. I love them all, but those are just so tiny.... I just hatched out a bunch for my breeder friend. She has kept my incubator pretty full all spring.
Best part of that is I get paid in chicks! She loaned out her other Sportsman last year and the people won't give it back. So with hers and mine I've kept mine pretty full.

It depends on what sort of music you like. We actually get tons of rock/metal shows here in the Spokane/Coeur d'Alene area and the casinos get a lot of different kinds of shows. We are not 5 hours to the ocean, though. More like 8 to Seattle or Portland. Pretty much, if you live rural or in the mountains you're gonna get snow over here. Unfortunately, if you want to have decent access to stuff, you pay out the nose for property here. Even a decent spread way out runs $250-350k.

we/I have too many animals to be traveling and it cost $$$ which we are spending on our home. this is what we prefer right now.
I have a girlfriend we have known ea other since we were 11yrs old and she lives in Ft Myers, FL on Pine Island just north of Sanabel Island, FL. they are on the gulf coast. i went to visit her in June or July back in the 80's and that was not a good time to go... too hot and too many mosquitos for me. but it is a beautiful State and the beaches and the humidity make it tropical and such a different feeling than the west coast...
You are very close to everything, sounds like you live in the city.
moving and changing your lifestyle is a very important step to make, i can understand your father not wanted to make such a big change; moving from one coast to another, that is a loooooong way to move and uproot your family. and then there are friends, family, church family, etc. some people have a difficult time making changes. me and my dh are very adaptable.
where we live we get about 2-3' of snow, but where some of the other ladies on this thread live they may get 4-6' of snow??? and it stays for a few months. i prefer the snow than the mud... when the snow melts and then freezes again and turns to ice, that can be very dangerous walking around our property going out ea day to tend to animals...
Well, it is very nice getting to know you, you sound like a very intelegent and friendly young lady...
P.S. we do have concerts and places to go for good entertainment, it just may be a further drive than 15mins. but we prefer that...
take care and post pics of your chickens, we would love to see them.
I noticed you have been a BYC member for 8yrs... wow!! i have only been on here for 1.5 yrs, i think... what threads do you hang out in?
talk to you later
