Hi New Picnic Friends!
I need some help... A guy in Napa has an EE roo that he says is very chill and he needs a new home for. He is about 6 months old. I'd like a pretty feller for my gals...What color is he? I am such a newbie...
Dawn, I'm not sure what color he is exactly, most EEs don't have a standard color. He looks to be sort of Brown Red, or maybe a very messy Wheaten color, with lots of red leakage.
I also noticed he doesn't have muffs, again there's no standard for EEs so this is acceptable, but muffs are one of the characteristics that make EEs so unique in my mind! Because he's lacking that gene, there's a big possibility that his children won't have muffs as well.
You should just wait until the springtime, hatch some of my BW Ameraucana eggs and then you could end up with a roo like my Claude.
Your beauties are too nice to pass up so I'll hold out until broody season. I guess that means you will be sending me some eggs this spring! (or possibly I can come down and get some...) Thanks for the offer...

They lay gorgeous blue eggs, you can see a picture of them on my website. Don't forget about those Olive Eggers from Wynette either!

OK, Jeremy, you win.

Well, since y'all are both close enough, I could probably hatch a small number of chicks for both of you. That way you would be able to come and pick up peeping little fuzzys!
Jeremy, that is a very kind offer! I am kind of looking forward to letting a mama do the job, which should also eventually help with flock integration, right? I have two blue cochins that will undoubtably take any reasonable opportunity to go broody again, so am hoping to let one of those big fluffy mama-types work her magic.
I will email you to buy eggs as soon as one starts growling at me again!
You're the best,
Dawn
Here is one giving my cat the stink-eye!
and the other helping herself to the cat's water dish, along with the brahma...
Hi Friends,
I found some local French BCM eggs for my first time broody to give it a go...Just five so we'll see how she (and I!) do. So far so good, but can you check my post above if you are hatching up here in Sonoma County around the 31Dec -2 Jan and want to share the cost of the Marek's innoculation?
Jeremy, never fear, my heart is set on some of your eggs this spring. I'm just on a trial run up here! And this way I can make my own Olive eggers in the future!
I know there are a bunch of you up here by me, but not sure who is doing the baby thing for New Year's... (Well, it just happened that way!
