Okay. This is my question. I have 15 chantecler eggs that I moved to the hatcher last night.

As I was doing my day 18 candleing before putting the bator on lock down, trying to get a better look I absent mindedly moved the light to the small end of the egg. I saw a clear area. Not like the air cell clear, but a clear more compareable to the white part of an infertile egg. Curious I candled the rest at the small end as well and noticed the same thing on about half the eggs.

When I candled the large end I could see the air cell and the egg appeared dark. None of them smell. Are these dead embryos? I don't know if this is normal as in all my other hatches I don't think I have ever candled the small end(or if I have I never noticed this) of the egg. I didn't notice movement but I rarely do this late in incubation as I don't wait for it. I just take a quick look and place them in the hatcher if all appears well.

I know I will find out in a few days , I just wonder if anybody else has noticed this.

Temp and humidity has been perfect throughout.

I've noticed it before, but cannot honestly answer the other part of your question. I always just assumed, (and still do) that it was a positioning thing.

Ok... since you said that, I candled a couple of my eggs as before I locked down. Out of the 4 I checked... one is like that AND I saw movement.
Big 'ol open space in the pointy end & moving toes along the side near the airsac!
So I checked the rest... got about 5 out of 23!
All 23 of my (chicken) eggs had movement as of last night. I just put them all in lockdown... I'll let you know how it goes - I marked the one with the "clear" pointy end.

Dirt road, do you remember if those eggs hatched?

I separated mine too so now I will be able to tell if they hatch.

Interesting to find out.

Thanks guys.

Can't say, I paid so little attention to it. I would have had to mark them or separate them somehow and just didn't. Sorry I can't offer more. I'll be interested to hear how they turn out for you.

I have 4 hatched so far. Apparently this clear area is not a problem. Yay!

All of the eggs I have hatched had a clear "gel" in the pointy end. I assumed it was normal. I thought it was the "whites" of the egg for lubrication and moisture so the baby could hatch.

Normal, they still have 3 more days of growing, that the last area to fill up.

Now if its a large area, them they died early,
