Attacking?
You said that something was confusing to you - I tried to clear it up.
Unless you are one of the folks who expect breeders to somehow only sell top quality animals and, at the same time, not cull any of the offspring that their animals produce (which I am sure you are not) then I didn't say anything at all out of line or even a little bit ugly.
again wrong.....but feel free to move along since you dont seem to understand even the great waterfowl breed HWF sells culls every year that people line up and scramble to buy.........they are still culls as culling means to remove from the breeding program of the current owner/breeder. Culls are not all always bad birds, but they dont measure up for that owner/breeder.Celtic..we'll just have to agree to disagree. The fact is you are making profit on birds that you yourself wouldn't keep in a breeding program.
As I stated..I was just confused by this as you were the one that started this thread...that's all.
Carry on..![]()
I was just trying to clarify because I do have a friend who is a serious breeder and he does "freezer camp" all of his inferior birds. Doesn't bother me in the least. The few birds he does sell usually go to 4-H kids and he teaches them how to show AND how to pair up birds with complimenting traits.
I think what Redhen was trying to get at is the thread was about people selling inferior birds as show quality etc. and how it is irresponsible. But then everyone is talking about selling their culls as pet birds. There is nothing stopping those people with their newly acquired pets to hatch and sell their off spring as coming from show lines - it happens ALL the time. You can't control people and unlike the dog/cat world you can't spay/neuter your birds before you rehome them.
I personally think a lot of the responsiblity falls on the person who is interested in a breed of whatever to research that breed and understand what they are looking for BEFORE they ever buy. They need to talk to "experts" and by that I mean people who have proven themselves through actions, not just rattling off information that can be found by anyone on the internet. Raising show birds takes knowledge and integrity on both ends.
