I just so happen to have two Silver Sussex chicks that yours resembled a lot (just not the penciling in the breast). Are you NPIP? If not, you're not allowed to ship. If the breeder is willing to come get her pullet and trade you a Brahma pullet in exchange it's not a bad trade.

I wouldn't ship her, it isn't fair. Much better to tell her if she wants her to come and get her! And you want a brahma pullet too!!

If she really want her back she will not mind coming to collect her, and bringing you a chicken replacement.

Its not your fault......and as she was so adamant at the start that the bird was not hers, then I don't think you can trust her to send you a replacement if you ship her bird back.

(she even says she has only one laying at the moment.......you took the time and trouble in incubate and care for you chicks.......she only had to send a few eggs to you.

OK off the phone with her- She wanted me to ship her and she'd reimburse me with eggs this fall for all of my trouble in getting Cera started. . When I told her that she was too young and could be injured or die, she said "well then hold her for me until she's big enough to ship...."

After a long debate, I told her she was more than welcome to come pick her up, that's when "it" really hit the fan on her part- I didn't even say that I'd like a replacement Brahma or eggs. She says shes going to sue me now- I calmly told her, in mid-stream of the expletives she was yelling, to have a nice day and good bye- I really hate this-

Anyway, I want to thank you guys for the suggestions on how to handle this circumstance- BYC people are the best

Why not have her ship you a few more eggs from this project? Instead of shipping the pullet, she can pay you to do a part of the project for her? Like you breed pullet to what she wants or ships to you, you get x number of eggs and she pays you for not just eggs but time and feed, and then you ship this generations eggs to her to continue with? You get paid for your work, she gets her project genetics? If that makes sense.

Unless she burned the bridge already and your over it.

x3..GOOD GRIEF,.I would be terrified about how the pullet would be cared for when she got it.
