I have 9 month old light Sussex, never layed yet.a 7 month old light Sussex ,who just started laying now ,in December, everyday almost. It is cold outside, but warm in the coop.Dark in coop as well, besides small windows,(keeps feather picking away)
Rest are resuming laying now,one by one, after finishing 2 month molt.
1 wellsummer, will be 2 in February, never layed,( runt when little)but pretends to lay often, and cries to get in nest. She has large Spurs on both feet.she also does half a rooster crow,in morning,if you ask her to.
Nothing is set in stone with nature. They are all loved equally,in our forever home.
