Any idea on this breed? I received a surprise box from the Chick hatchery about 8 weeks ago. I think she is gorgeous, just can't figure out what she is exactly.

I was going to say leghorn cross. Guess I was right.

It's very hard to tell what both halves of a mix are. It's also very possible that she's a mix of mixes. Saying that, I would guess that she has cochin in her.
any ideas on this black girl? I am in Australia and got her from the feed store. Thinking Australorp maybe but crossed with something as she has brown flecks on her chest area and amber eyes.

Do you have a picture of her chest?
Oh well. Thanks ..... any telling what is causing the black color?
Maybe they have some black ameraucana in them. Or were crossed to marans, which would make them olive eggers.

Ah. I was thinking of d'anvers, but the lack of a rose comb confused me.
Since both of your chick's parents are buff columbian based, he/she should be mostly buff columbian. Mottling (white spots) is recessive, so won't show up in the first generation. If the chick is a pullet, she/he will have some of the patterning that d'anvers hens have.

Here's an update on my Booted Bantam x D'Anver chick!

It's roughly 2 weeks old now.

Is the colour appearing Buff Colombian like you guessed? I'm not amazing with the more fancy patterning on chickens so I have no idea.

Would you also say this chick has the mottling of a female D'Anvers? I'm just curious to know if it's showing signs of it being a female from its feathers.

These came in a surprise assortment from Ideal. They were supposed to be pullets but the lighter one may be a boy.

Looks like it will have the d'anvers patterning if it's a pullet. That doesn't mean it will be female. Chicks will often show female coloring until they start to get in their male specific feathers.

It's a cockerel. Most likely dumped. Does he have feathered legs?

Easter eggers. The lighter one is looking like a cockerel.
