The blood in the blood vessels looks kind of stale and the chick seems to realy want to get out so I'm not sure if I should help him or leave him or do something of what?

Do you have some coconut oil handy?
If so rub a little on the membrane...it will help you to see better.

Have you been peeling the shell off...how long has it looked like this?

yes, I have coconut oil and I have been applying it to the membrane. it has been like that for about 12 hours.
I think I would go ahead and pull down the membrane to free it up a little more and see if that helps you to be able to see if it has absorbed the yolk all the way or not.

But first...
Can you tell me how the egg got to this point? What made you start helping it.

I thought it was another egg. (i thought it was number 18 that had piped a long time ago when it actually was number 8 who only piped recently) so I decided to help it out. I clearly did it too early. it's a dumb mistake.

I think I would leave it alone for a while longer then.

ok thanks
I am pretty sure there is no way it will be able to get out on it's own now but...I can't see what you are seeing to see/know if it is time to help or not.

I wish I could help more but this is something you are going to have to keep a close eye one and decide when to help it out.

Is it still moving well?

Watch the beak...is it still opening and closing its beak often?
