Not Sure If You've Got A Pullet Or Cockerel? Click Here! Thread 2

Sorry to bother. I’m trying to take my cockerels to the sale Saturday. An Easter Egger I was wondering about..thank you all so much for the Info.

I'm not seeing any rooster signs, so I'd say Pullet.

I got 8 chicks from a feed store, raised them, and then discovered that I possibly have two roosters in the bunch! They’re about 8 weeks old. I know one of them is a rooster for sure (not pictured), but this barred rock is confusing me. I think it may be a rooster. Thoughts?

If only 8 weeks, that's a cockerel. He's darker than most males, so that's why he's harder to sex.

These are four week old chicks and I'm wondering what your early guesses are. I'm feeling like all 5 are cockerels.

Sorry if they upload weird but the numbers are in purple on each picture.

Not as red as the one I think is a cockerel. It’s also more assertive... “charges at” and “challenges” the other much larger pullets.

I have 2 Crevecoeur’s they are 6 weeks old, one I have been told is a rooster (that’s picture #2) but the other I’m starting to wonder and would be devastated to find out that SHE is actually a HE. #2 started attempting to crow (like nails on a chalkboard) but noticed tonight that #1 was making the noise as well and they kind of “charge” at each other every now and again. I am a new chicken mom so I’m not sure if this behavior is “normal”. If it turns out that I have 2 roosters (I only have 3 chickens all together) how long until I have to get rid of one?

Hello everyone! So I am just getting started with a small flock and picked up these two barred rock chicks straight run today from a local feed store. The owner said they were around 4 weeks old. They both have dark marks on their legs and identical feather colors but one has a small yellow comb and the other is much larger and redder already. Did I pick up a little roo on accident (or worse, two?) I stayed away from the much lighter feathered ones but the attitude of the larger red combed one is making me have doubts now.

Too young to tell for sure, but I like to make some predictions for fun.

1) EE - Because of the wing reddish color, I'm going to guess male.
2) EE - Everything looks very pale at this point, so far she looks female
3) EE - ? Too young, but at least there's no early signs of being male..
4) Australorp - Could go either way. The comb color looked different in the different poses. Blk Australorps get bigger combs & their combs should start to turn pink around now if male. Also keep an eye out for wattles dropping. If neither are present, then you'll have a girl
5) Australorp - The comb looks different on this one. Is it a single comb? If yes, it's very small and likely a girl. It also has some good feather growth which can also mean female.

I hate to say it, but your one BR looks male. The other looks female.

I think the one on left is a boy. However, wyandottes are not my breed, so hopefully someone else will voice their more experienced opinion.
