Barred hens can only pass the barring gene to her male offspring. Since the chick is barred, it's a boy.

No sexlinking there. White Leghorns are extended black with dominant white affecting the solid black pattern. They aren't silver, so you can't sex by color.

It may be a little older, it's my friends so I'm not sure how old they were when they got them but they had them for 12 weeks

Thought so. Pullet, about 2 to 3 weeks from laying.

My 3 week olds. The EE Often holds it tail feathers up the highest from the group.
The PBR is by far the most outgoing and the first with a comb @ weeks.
Is this too early to start this process?

there a little young right now ,but the barred rock is starting to look like a cockerel to me
