Black chest plus pink comb at so young an age equals a 100% cockerel. No doubts.

Does anybody know what happened with that kid from a month or so ago that had chicks in a tiny box with no heat? They thought their little ones were 4-5 weeks old and was getting upset with people trying to help. I haven't been able to find the posts and was curious to see how they fared.

No, I haven't heard/seen anything about that. Makes me wonder now, though. I hope it turned out ok...

one died and then she got a heat lamp. The rest are fine now

Good to hear that they mostly all made it! I had just remembered them the other day and was hoping it all turned out well.

Is my Black Australorp a hen? The EE in the picture with her is the same age and has been laying for 3-4 weeks now. If she is, when will she likely start laying?

Definitely a pullet, could lay any day now.

@we5farmers, are you sure it's an Australorp and not a Jersey Giant? She's huge. Anyway, laying age is highly variable but the wait shouldn't be much longer with all that red in the face.

They are a 'brand' of red sexlink. Males feather in solid white. Females are red with white.

So does that mean it's female?

Another post about Roxie... I think she is 4-6 months old...We have had her for 6 weeks. First photo from 6 weeks ago, 2nd from now. She(he) tried to crow I think 2 days but has not since.
