I don't know much about the Polish & Wyandotte other than both are tricky to sex. The wyandottes get pink early, so I'd look to compare pics to other wyandottes of same age.

Your 2nd "wyandotte" looks like another breed, but female. She looks very similar to my Penciled Rock chicks. In that breed, the males get a solid black chest & the females have a sort of speckled chest when they 1st grow in their feathers. (In pics below a=female & B=male)

The Sicilian Buttercup = pretty pullet

EE = definitely a female

Thanks, Faraday40!

I'm glad I managed to get some pullets in the bunch!!

I'm not sure, and I'll definitely defer to you and those with more experience than me; but the other chick that is *supposed* to be a silver Lace Wyandotte and the one that's a cockerel were identical as chicks. In fact, my cockerel looked just like she does now two and a half weeks ago. He was just feathered much more quickly and with more white coming in. And his comb expanded and got darker, too. But his comb looked like hers to begin with. Just odd to hear she may be a different breed. She was a dark topped, light bellied chick like the photo below (stock photo SLW from My Pet Chicken)

This is her (on bottom) and the cockerel (on top of heater) about two weeks ago

And then her about a week ago

Dunno. I'll have to keep an eye on her and see if she starts looking like a pencilled rock or another breed like you guys are saying

Thank you!

Wow That's interesting! Her current comb looked like a single comb to me. That's why I was wondering if she was another breed instead of a Wyandotte. I suppose the mystery is all part of the fun.

One of my fav hens (named Oopsie) was supposed to be a mauve orp. She looked mauve at hatch but feathered in white. (I figured the breeder who gave me the eggs made a mistake or another roo slipped inside his breeding pen.....Which would explain both her color & her name.) I kept Oopsie around because of the mystery, but fell in love with her personality & unique rare appearance. After breeding her I can conclude that she is indeed a mauve orp but carries a recessive white gene.

Awesome thread...thanks for the help. Here are my three newest (sorry I couldn't get them all in one pic):

What are the ages & can you get a closer pic of the Buff?

#2 looks like an Isa Brown / gold sexlink female..... maybe about 12-14 weeks
#3 has a lot of red & some wattles coming down, but the comb is still pretty small. Knowing the age may help. (ie my pullet "Oopsie" from my previous post was 5 mo when that pic was taken. If a chick looked like that at only 6-8 weeks it would be a male.)

hi everyone i just got 3 silkies from the market and the box had the word girl on the side of it and a second sold box saying boy ,
but i was wondering if anyone thought different and if you could all so give me a little clue on age?
the man said 'maybe size 3/4 month'.
I'm in thailand and I'm not good at the language yet only basic so i couldn't ask much
.
b3 is the smallest .
b2 had a broken beak but is ok now he said he put glue on it
b1 we can't really see her eyes much
thankyou in advance , I'm hoping for girls as my village has a ban on Roos.....please please please be girls

This was sold as a pullet but I think it's a roo. Anyone with Brahma experience please? I can't keep Roos so I'd like to rehome him sooner rather then later if I get a lot of feedback that it's a male. He/she's my first Brahma and doesn't live up to the friendly calm nature I've hear about. This one is very skiddish and aloof. Wants nothing to do with me and I've tired all chicken whispering techniques ha! Oh well :(

Thanks guys :)
