Not Sure If You've Got A Pullet Or Cockerel? Click Here! Thread 2

I'm checking periodically as she grows. 13 (?) week old EE. I wasn't sure how old she was when I got her so just guessing. I checked her vent and didn't see anything poking out, but I'm no expert and am not even sure that is something that's done on older birds anyway. The feathers coming in on her back are broad and then come to a point, but aren't entirely thin. No crowing this far. I'm just paranoid of a standard roo harming my bantam girls.

That's a cockerel. And you won't see anything in the vent. Chickens don't have penises.

Like debid said, it's a little early to really tell. That being said, nothing *yet* is screaming cockerel to me; the pinker comb might end up meaning something, but I've had GLW who've had pinker combs by week six and still ended up being pullets. I'm also not seeing any pointed sickle or hackle feathers, but that might be just me. If I had to guess, I'd say both pullets, but I'd definitely get another opinion from someone with more experience with SLW.
Sorry I can't be more helpful :)

Thanks, I think I'm coming to terms with the wait and see. I'm ok with having a roo but hope all our favorites aren't. Lol maybe another week or 2 and they will start looking more like one or the other. Lol

What is screaming cockerel to you? For weeks I've been getting" pullet " as my answer and haven't noticed that much change so am wondering what turned the tables? My flock was pieced together with adult hens and I haven't raised young birds before now so I am curious. And I know they don't have penises, I'd been watching videos about vent sexing chicks and decided to look at this bird in the same manner for curiosity's sake.

Comb is too pink and developed for a 13 week pullet, the darker shade of blue through the shoulder, and what appear to be darker blue male saddle feathers coming in on the back. I'm pretty sure that's a boy.

5-6 weeks?? Very timid attitude.

This I'm thinking cockeral 5-6 weeks also. This one is the protector of all his/hers brooder buddies. None of the other chcikens in the run can get close to these guys.

Is it normal for them to be 2 seperste groups in the same coop and run. They do nothing together... The first group is 9ish weeks and then these 5-6 weekers...

Around 6 weeks and got them from the state fair they all have the brown/gold on the chest some have more comb then others however this one just has a lot more brown/gold on the chest and this ones feet/legs are yellow and the other are dark
