Not Sure If You've Got A Pullet Or Cockerel? Click Here! Thread 2

Baby tails often point downward. There is no meaning to that shape.

If you got your GCs from a hatchery, they're girls. If you got them from someone you found through CL, then it could be they are 2nd generation and then the color becomes meaningless.

I got both from farmers Co Op.

I'd expect they buy from a hatchery. No worries, GCs with gold or red down are girls no matter how pale the wing tips. There is a good bit of variability between individuals for how much red vs white there is.

Mine had very white wings but look at all the red now.

No one is all red with white then the other one in confused on is all white with very tiny red. Does that mean she's still a girl?

Males have white down and white feathers with just a little red bleed at the wing bow/back. Do you have a camera?

Hello! I have a juvenile, not sure of age or breed. He/she was found abandoned on the street in an apartment complex in Dubai; when I got him home and to a vet he was diagnosed with bird mites and secondary infections -- he's had to re-grow all his head feathers and I'm not sure if it affected his comb/body as well. I'm including a photo from his initial vet visit in January, and a photo from about a week ago. Within the past seven days his comb and around the face have been turning more red. No obvious rooster behavior yet, but no eggs either, lol. Thoughts? Thanks! Kate in UAE...

Gorgeous! I think that has to be a cockerel. Looking at the second picture, I'd estimate 12 weeks old and possibly a little delayed from the rough start but looking good now!

These are my 4 chickens so far. I originally had 6 and the farm told me there were 2 Roos and 4 girls. Well, one of the hens and one rooster were killed by the neighbors dog when he got out. Now, looking at them I'm fairly certain there had to be 3 roosters because two in the back look like Roos and I think the two in the front are hens. Also, is there any reason the white rock in the front has grayish feet compared to the two in the back?
