I'm sorry these pictures are so awful, my phone camera stinks but I'll describe her to you. First, she looks like a barred plymouth rock except that she is gray, I don't mean she looks gray, I mean she is gray with white bars. (I've had a ton of people tell me she just looks gray because of the white bars) Second, her wings only have bars on the shoulders, the rest of the wing is solid gray, Third, her legs are silver, Fourth, her chest, tummy and bum are white, Fifth, her head is cream with a brown spot on top and again on the back of her neck. She is almost completely feathered now, no more baby down and the feathers on her chest are the lightest of gray with almost invisible white bars because the gray is so light, but I have noticed in the last week that the tips of those chest feathers are turning brown, she looks dirty. She is developing a comb but I know that hens can have combs and wattles, I checked her saddle feathers and they are blunted, no points, also no spurs. She is a bantam also, if that makes a difference and also explains why I can hold a 5 to 6 week old on my finger lol. Any ideas on breed would be great, thx ahead of time!

I'm not sure what breed, but you're little bantam is a rooster.
What makes you say that? She has no spur buds at all and her saddle feathers are round if not almost squarish. We've had hens with combs and wattles if you are using that as an indication, have a RIR with the biggest comb you ever saw but laying like a champ. I would be very interested to know if I am missing an indication you see that I don't, I am no expert by any stretch and am always interested in learning.

A pullets comb will only reddened and grow when she is near laying age.

Roos grow their combs and wattles early on; around 6 weeks. He is also too young to grow spurs and the typical hackle and saddle feathers, but they will come in after his first baby moult.

Agree it's a little rooster.

your laying hen has large comb and wattles, and that's normal for a mature hen. A young pullet of this age won't have this much comb. Sex feathers, those pointy hackle and saddle feathers, don't come in until around 12 weeks or so. Spur buds are a very unreliable indicator of gender. Some roosters don't grow much spurs to speak of, and some hens have wicked long spurs. So at this age, it's pretty much about the comb.

Where did the bird come from? A hatchery or backyard breeder?

well that RIR I mentioned grew a red comb around 4 weeks of age, we were sure she was bound for the stew pot as we aren't allowed to have roos in town, by the time she was 6 weeks of age, we noticed spur buds (only developed buds, never spurs on her) and her saddle feathers have remained the same shape as the chick in question.

As for the chick in question, her comb (yes I still think she is a pullet) is coming in right on schedule and color/size as the other chicks her age aside from the cornish cross who has no perceivable comb whatsoever. Also, honestly, I am not questioning her sex, I am asking breed. I'll deal with sex when she crows/lays.

As for where I got her, she was an impulse buy at the local feed store. (her and her little bantam friend the cornish cross I mentioned) she was in a mixed pullet bin and was so incredibly tiny compared to the other bantams in the bin (was a bin of random breed pullet bantams) The guy that sold her to me said she is a runt and will be sickly, she was at first but I took care of that. She has caught up to her cornish friend in size, I fixed her pasty butt and prolapsed vent issue and her foot that was not getting proper circulation. She is healthy as a horse now.

Time will tell on the sex, I just want to know if anyone can tell me breed. Maybe she's a mutt? If so, is there any way to tell which breeds she is (obviously she has some form of barred rock going)?

Thx everyone!

I'm not sure on breed, but it is almost certainly a cockerel. Could be mixed, but it also looks a little like a Crele Old English Game or even a Cream Legbar.
