Nope, in fact, we have to dig up a couple grand for taxes, too. Don't know where it's gonna come from. Maybe I can pull it outta the side of my head.
All the more reason we need to live in a region where the cost of living is significantly lower. We love where we live (the city anyway, not the neighborhood) and love our life here, just can't afford it anymore.
BTW, for those of you who are Kaiser patients--you know those Kaiser ads where they brag about their new electronic medical record? Just so you know, the doctors are doing their own reports now and putting all KINDS of crap in them (not all of it necessarily accurate because they are doctors, not secretaries or transcriptionists, and they're in a huge hurry to get to their next patient, so you can only imagine what's ending up in your records these days), and the advent of Kaiser's electronic medical record put 1200 medical records technicians, medical transcriptionists, coders and billers in northern California alone out of work--and your medical records will NEVER be the same again.
The advent of Kaiser's medical record and the loss of my job (I'm primary wage-earner) has devastated us. We are literally making 1/3 of what we were just 2-1/2 years ago.
