Not Urgent: Silkies wing tips appear frayed

Hello BYC friends:

I am not sure if this is an issue, but I noticed my sillies wing tips seem frayed. I included the suggested information below, but am happy to provide any additional information requested to determine if an issue even exists.

1) What type of bird , age and weight (does the chicken seem or feel lighter or thinner than the others.)

• silkie frizzle, about 15 weeks old, weight seems normal but these are my first chickens and only have one silkie.

2) What is the behavior, exactly.

• I believe her behavior is normal for her, and for a silkie (timid with stairs, sleeps on threshold of door between coop and enclosed run)

3) How long has the bird been exhibiting symptoms?

• Not sure, just noticed

4) Are other birds exhibiting the same symptoms?

• no

5) Is there any bleeding, injury, broken bones or other sign of trauma.

• no

6) What happened, if anything that you know of, that may have caused the situation.

• none known

7) What has the bird been eating and drinking, if at all.

• water, starter feed, occasional veggie/fruit

8) How does the poop look? Normal? Bloody? Runny? etc.

• unknown because I can’t differentiate from the other chickens

9) What has been the treatment you have administered so far?

• none

10 ) What is your intent as far as treatment? For example, do you want to treat completely yourself, or do you need help in stabilizing the bird til you can get to a vet?

• n/a until determination if issue exists

11) If you have a picture of the wound or condition, please post it. It may help.

12) Describe the housing/bedding in use

• 6 pullets, approx 15 weeks old, this is the only silkie of the group
• Coop is 4x4 ft, pine shaving bedding; run is 4x12 with mixed wood chips and pine straw (starting a compost)

I didn’t read your whole post, but looks typically for a Silkie Frizzle.

It's is because she has silkie feathering.

Note: she is not a silkie frizzle, she does not carry the frizzling gene

My understanding when bought her was that she is a Silkie Frizzle. She is certainly silly like other silkies.

How old was she when you bought her?

We bought them all together from Kahouts. I believe there were approx 1-2 days old.
