November 15th Quilt Swap

Wow what a great night I had, very tired today, we did a lock in at our Church kids had a ball and me too!! so here are my pics of the babies and they are mutts this round,
Well they are a fine looking batch of mutts, plenty of variety :)

I've got about 3 doz mutt eggs in the bator myself atm, plus 1 which will be a pure CL if it hatches just a pullet egg so small & I can't see into it very well so I'm guessing "Prince" figured out his job since none of the eggs from his pen on 10/12 were growing, but several from the other gals in that pen on 10/15 _are_ growing ; fingers crossed on that one special egg from Victoria :) The bulk of the others are the final batch I'm hatching out for replacement flock for my friends who had the disaster a couple months back, some gifted eggs from a friend which will hatch on my bday, so I'll be picking a couple to keep as my own bday treat.

@cathiesue I understand totally. These colors _sound_ really simple but wow were they had to shop for. I'm doing a floral on the pink, but there were a couple cute non-florals that were tempting. I bought extra fabrics to make a larger quilt & those blocks will be taking a little more leeway w/ the color plan. I expect everyone's quilts will end up shockingly different from this swap when all is said & done just because of the trickiness of these colors. I can't wait to see the pictures!!!

I'm finally healthy, & basically caught up (to include having in the past 2 days organised a babyshower for a young woman (19yo) due Oct 31, I had assumed someone closer to her would have done it already, when I emerged from my month long headcold fog & found out not I was pretty upset w/ ppl. She has had a hard situation since her early teen years, but she did come help me for a week on the farm a few yrs ago when my DH had to to out of state to deal w/ his grandma passing, & this young woman is doing the best she can, can't say as much for the "baby daddy" who proposed to her back in 2008 & apparently this week is trying to back out of even being engaged to her!! But nothing is perfect, and this baby will be here in a few days, so gathering a few women together to show her some kindness for a few hrs. really feels like the least I can do. She was already on my baby quilt list, the shower/potluck is just extra).

Now I'm off to go quilt on the blocks for this swap! Got to get them done ASAP !

FeyRaine,

Good for you. Really good to read how you are helping this young girl. Presumably the young man has got scared now real life is on his doorstep. I'm sending good wishes to your young friend.

Thanks majack , as for the young man the best I can say is we all hope that is all it is, "bless his heart" ;/

I haven't started that baby quilt yet, but as I have several to make I got a bunch of cute fabrics when they were on sale while I was shopping for the fabric for this swap, more bright than traditional baby quit stuff but I think it should make up really nice w/ some pinwheel blocks. I'll post pics. when I have something to show...

Since I last posted I got all the middle thirds of the blocks for this swap sewn together, they need to be pressed but I'm happy w/ the look so far!

Just got the other 2/3 sections finished & pressed.
So all that is left is the 2 long seams to join the top+middle+bottom, & press.
I'm really happy w/ how they look so far too :)

@RustyHen will keep an eye out for them

@FeyRaine I haven't even started mine yet!! But all of the Halloween costumes are finished and I can now start on them.

Way to go RustyHen !!!

Katsdar , they really don't take that much time to do, it is a great simple block that looks really classy (ie looks fancier than it was to make)
so great choice on the block. & you don't have to figure postal time so you get a couple extra days anyway ;>

My plan is to finish this wk (cold rain forecast) while using any nice weather to get the chickens winterized (behind yep)
& then mail the blocks Nov 4 b/c that is my birthday & this quilt being my bday gift to myself makes mailing it then make "Fey Raine Logic" .

Your right I think I'm going to take a little break, glad to know these blocks go fast and are easy. My DH is home for a few days and we need to process one of our turkeys, he is getting big and it is time so after he goes back over the road I'll get started on them. I have some pretty colors picked out so I am really looking forward to them and seeing everyone's blocks they are really pretty. Happy Birthday hope your day is filled with all kinds of fun things.
