November 15th Quilt Swap

I can't remember if I mentioned re light bulbs and I"m not up for double checking...

You can get the higher watt incandescent lightbulbs called 'rough service' still for your chicks. I really need the pink bulbs for my eyes to be comfortable but those are long gone. Hobby Lobby or any stinky place makes my nose go bonkers immediately. I've had to cover my runny snot face before I got to the bathroom for a tissue.

I need things like a new roof before I need clothes and my craft supplies are ridiculous so none of those. The chickens aren't up on the latest fashions in Paris anyway. Its reaching freezing and I may have to break down and buy a cheap comforter since I've only finished my first quilt from the swaps.

My blocks are supposed to arrive today.

@Kassaundra wow I have allergies from H.... and have lost my sense of smell but intense or really offensive smells get me and that can be a trigger for me along with grass, cats, oak trees and anything else God put on this earth. but I have my inhalers and allergy meds, and yes I do have cats, I am used to them if I get around a new cat my nose goes crazy. I do bathe my cats to help with the dander and anything else they bring in on their coats, they don't sleep with me but I have fallen asleep in my recliner and have woken up with a cat curled up on my chest face swollen eyes so puffy they really don't resemble eyes great fun.

@ rockingbearanch I don't know if this is true but white light bulbs are supposed to make the chickens mean, don't know have used both and I didn't notice a difference, I now have a red bulb that is supposed to keep lizards warm in my brooder box and it works just fine, but then the chickies are feathered out.

ROCKINGBEAR AND CATHIESUE'S BLOCKS ARE HERE!!!!!! no I didn't peak wanted to

My husband has intense allergies to nature and air. He attempted allergy shots unsuccessfully finally gave up after almost 8 years w/o any help at all. They did the skin tests on his arms and they were swollen and deformed for quite a while after even w/ antihistimines and steroids. He had systemic reactions at a dilute so weak the dr's didn't even think it was possible.

My reactions are to chemicals, not so much nature. Even w/o smells, my airway spasms to the point of shutting down. Coughing so intense I can't catch my breath and have even lost consciousness. My reaction isn't eyes watering and swelling or classic allergy type reactions it is 100% in my lungs, intense and almost immediate upon exposure. I also trigger (but not so harsh) w/ cold air, exercise, singing, laughing. It is very limiting socially speaking. I have to listen by phone for church, and always go to the movies in the middle of the week, middle of the day and weeks after the movie has come out so almost no people are in the movies w/ me. I love live theater but really can't do that anymore. I am going to try the big Doctor Who 50th anniversary movie, just hoping people won't get all "gussied up" w/ perfumes. I am still able to work, but have had to go home a few times on bad days or w/ unexpected exposures.

Ladies I only have 2 sets to receive and then I can sort and ship, wow another swap done.

now I proposed a stash buster color and block of makers choice, does this sound like a swap you would like?

STASH BUSTER SWAP due March 15th, 2014, any color, any block as long as the finished block is 12.5" total of 12 blocks

Or

A patriotic quilt, red, white, and blue or Union Jacks fabric or American flag fabric.

So tell me ladies what would you like the next swap to be? any and all suggestions welcomed. We do have 2 swappers who are having trouble sewing the blocks so we could pick a block and they could send the blocks cut and ready to be sewed together. Or does someone have a special request a special quilt that we can help with? I chose the red, white and blue only as a suggestion because that is one quilt I'm going to try and make for my son who is in the Navy, I know we have other members that have family in the service too. Remember we are all of different skill levels so we need to pick something that we can all do.

I always like the idea of a stashbuster, but if you do both random colors and random patterns do you think it would be to "messy" visually? Just my opinion, but I think at least one thing ought to be set, either color, or color set or theme, or block or block family.

Wow! I love the patriotic idea! I even have some New England Patriots fabric left from some pajama pants I made for my sweet man.
How about keep it simple and do a 9 inch 9 patch. Make half with light corners and half with dark corners or something like that.

or patriotic with block pattern of your choice.

@Kassaundra yes your right, noted

wow I didn't think the red, white and blue would go over ok so we know we are doing a Patriotic 3 inch square 12.5 inch block, total of 12 blocks. I did a quick google of the idea and
kassaundra isn't that the fabric you just bought as a steal in the back ground, how strange is that. I will set up the next swap and post the link later in the day!!!
