Yeah not long at all, amazing how fast the time goes. Then seems to take forever once they start to pip. haha, probably because we hover around the bator!

I just can't believe how crazy addicting it is, I'd rather buy eggs of the breeds I want than order from a hatchery. It's just fun and exciting seeing the results of all your patience and hard work hatching right before your eyes. Not to mention the little buggers are sooooooooooo darn cute. I can't wait till lock down so I can candle everybody and see what I've got. I'm hoping for at least a 50% hatch rate. Thats what I normally get with shipped eggs.

Freezer camp, if they aren't going to be used for breeding. I want some white rocks too! Missed out on an ebay aution for some eggs today, argh!

i give/sell them away. Like kooltex said " if not breeding quality then you can geeeeet out" lol i love south park! Anyway, i cannot kill or "cull" any of my baby chicks or chickens. Im too much of a softie. I just don't have the heart to do it.

I just locked down my 11 light sussex eggs today, at the end of day 17. Oops. I guess I have been so hands-off with this hatch that I did not even lock them down at the right time. Hopefully a day will not make a difference.

Thursday is lock down! Can't wait. I now have a slight delima though, my new eggs will be here Thursday/Friday, and the quail don't hatch till sat/sun. So now I think I'm going to have to build a separate hatcher so I can get my new eggs in the bator asap. I have an old stereo cabinet that I am making into an incubator. Guess I will need to get on the ball today and get it going, at least get it set up as a hatcher for now. I know the new eggs can wait till the hatch is complete, but the extra days may lower hatch rate on them. I just couldn't pass em up! Cornish Bantam eggs and Standard White rock eggs, I'm praying they make the journey safe and sound!
