November/December "Hatch-a-Long"

My d'Uccle is trying to hatch two golf balls and a rock... If she keeps it up, I just might give her a couple eggs, since there's no room in my incubator at the moment.

oh maybe a little roo with it's little copper color on the wings??
from what I've read the Marans with good feathering on their legs have more of the actual French bloodline in them!!
mine are going on 1 month old ( boy time flies) some have feathering and some don't
I had 2 that hatched a copper brown color...roo's ? can't tell by their combs yet:idunno

SOP for Marans is feathering on shanks and outside toe only...don't see any on this one's toes?  You will be able to tell cockerels in a couple weeks by their combs (~6 wks).  They usually don't get any copper until much later...true feathers (after fuzz) in chicks are generally black for weeks or months.
mine are copper right now

what breeds?
I have a variety in there this time! lol The easiest to candle will be the white Leghorn eggs. Also have Welsummer, Silver Laced Wyandotte, RIR, NHR, Barred Rock, Buff Orpington, Old Engllish Blue Orpington, Old English Black Orpington, Austrolorpe, Golden Comet, Buff Brahma then 2 greenish blue EE eggs. I'm sure those will be the hardest, and there are so very dark brown eggs also. Not sure what breed they are from. Some of them could be mixed breeds as well, so this should be a surprising hatch! lol I'm excited to see what I end up with if they hatch! So should I expect to see movement at 9 days if I candle tonight?? Or just looking for good veining at this point?

we hatched 13 eggs at this time 2 years ago, we kept them inside for a mth oh what a mess feathers all over the living room, never will I hatch this time of year again, the one picture is right after they hatched the middle one is after Gerry made cage for them it was so cold out we could not put them out at first. the top picture is of the back of the coop just for peeps

Tomorrow is lockdown and I candled again today and I have actually have movement in 7 of 7 of the remaining eggs, not 5 like I thought yesterday. I set 12 originally, but 5 weren't fertile.

SO I couldn't wait any longer! Candled my little eggs this evening! Right now, I KNOW that at least 5 are good because they have tons of veining and are just swimming all over the place! LOVED seeing that! That was a first for me! 2 of them were my white leghorns so my 2 little girls really got a good view! We LOVED it. Also, there are 2 clears that appear to never have started developing at all. There are several eggs that even with my new light I'm not confident to say they are good or bad. Also, at this point if I see a "blood ring" that is a bad thing...right??? I saw that in a few. That means "early quitter" right? They clearly have a chick in them but no movement and an obvious dark ring. I know it's not a great rate, but with my temp issues early on I'm just so happy to know there are still some babies growing!!!! YAY!!!! GO CHICKIES GO!!!!
