November/December "Hatch-a-Long"

Well it will be interesting to see if your speculation comes true. Is the mom barred/crele That should lead to a SL but I am not sure. Good luck and may all your future hatchings be pullets

Well, I'm pretty sure my hatch is done although I still have nine eggs in the bator doing nothing. I'll leave them until tomorrow just in case. I've had three more hatch since the initial hatching flurry....all three were two days late. I'm fairly disappointed in the hatch rate. I set forty eggs, twenty-two went into lockdown (lots of infertiles), and I've had thirteen chicks hatch. While the hatch rate is disappointing, I'm VERY happy with the chicks I have. So cute! Of the silkies I've ended up with six black, two buff, two white and one blue/splash plus two LF Cochins, one black and one gold laced.

Now I need to get the silkie pen built. The Cochins will go in my existing pen but the silkies will get a new home of their own. I'm thinking of converting a child's playhouse into their chicken house. I've seen a couple of these and they look really functional. Has anyone done this?

I got my English Chocolate Orpingtons and American Buff Orpingtons today. Plus there were packing peanuts!
