Did my Day 10 candle tonight and I need some advice. Still can't see what's happening in my marans, but there seems to be something going on. Of the 4 blue eggs, 3 look great! Good veins, good other stuff, I think some movement. They're really starting to look like chicks are in there! I'm worried about the 4th, though. It's the one that had a very shallow crack, which I put candle wax on. I couldn't see veins like I could on the others. Instead, there was one large dark area and the air cell area was totally clear and larger than the cells in the others. It looked a like the pictures of Day 11 saddle cells on the Hatching 101 page. The dark section would move, but it was more like it was moving because the air cell moved, rather than of its own volition. It also had a faint smell. It wasn't a horrible smell, but there was a smell, which the others didn't have.
What do you think? Is it time to remove the egg from the nest? Wait until the smell gets stronger? Do the bad eggs have a strong smell or faint smell? The egg had good early development, so I don't want to give up on it until I'm sure it's time. Please let me know what you think!
Thanks!
