I set 26 texas a&m quail eggs last Saturday. It's been driving me nuts so I candled 7 of them I saw very distinct veins in 3/7 but nothing in the remaining 4. It gives me hope since this is only my second time incubating and my first time with shipped eggs. Although I was wishing for an extremely high hatch rate... We can dream can't we? Lol
glad your having a happy streak!!All babies from both batches hatched! YAY! Back to my 100% hatch rate streakI have eggs from my Golden Laced Wyandotte with the Crested Cream Legbar roo in the bator. I have one from each day for about a week and a couple Marans crosses thrown in here and there. First one goes in lockdown in the hatcher on the 9th so I finally get to clean out the hatcher and disinfect everything. its the used Hovabator Genesis that has been going since the day I bought it. That thing rocks! Temp is spot on, so is the humidity. I don't have to mess with much of anything and it holds everything like a charm. I am so lucky I found it on Craigslist!! It deserves a small break and a bath
Can't wait for my pretty blue eggs to arrive, but they will be going in the Incukit/LG bator till lockdown anyway. I don't expect much from shipped eggs anymore. Somewhere between North Texas and everywhere else is someone that really hates chickens - I am convinced. The most chicks I have ever gotten from shipped eggs was 3 Barred Rocks from 20 eggs. Bredas were 0 of 20. South American endangered breeds were 2 of 40. Welsummers 0 of 20 (one did hatch and then die). 0 of 10 Bielefelders. So my expectations from shipped eggs is basically that I enjoy flushing money down the drain, LOL! But I will keep my fingers crossed and hope for more.![]()
