those of us down south don't have a huge worry usually but Pyxis is up north......I just wouldn't want them in the house too long even though I love them....pew!
you can absolutely tell when the chicks hatch if they are from a healthy flock! mine eat well like yours! if I put an egg in from my girls it hatches a sassy spunky chick....those that I've bought same thing when the chicks hatch if they are weak and wane you just know they're parents are lacking in nutrition!
