November/December "Hatch-a-Long"

Just checked again and my chirper has pipped!!!

Now I'll be a nervous wreck until it's out! And hopefully the others aren't far behind her.

it IS completely nervewracking!! all you can do is wait.. it is absolutely excruciating lol.. but just keep waiting! I got freaked out hearing them chirp too. chirping but no pipping isn't in the how-to guide, how long do they sit like THAT? well for me it was about 12 hrs and then they pipped. from pip to zip is varying from 4-16 hours. Once they begin zipping though, grab a chair, zipping goes FAST! congrats mama!

I got 10 of 16 to hatch. The other 6 was fully formed but did not pip. I don't really know what happened with them. Temp was stable but I'm pretty sure they got shrink wrapped. I did not have anything to measure humidity. Just filled the trays on lockdown day. The first egg hatched on day 22 and the last hatched on day 24.

Oh my goodness so much cute!
The lot I just hatched had 2 in the space of a couple of hours then nothing for another 24 hours, then another couple the day after.
Patience is a virtue. And hatching is torture to those of us with none.
Worth it!
:pop
I read pip to zip can take all day ...it just Feels like a week.

day 22 here.. I am trying not to get worried.. I want to check the eggs badly!!
the remaining Wyandotte eggs, I saw them move on day 18. surely they are still alive? :'(

here are the day 2 babies with mama :)

Mama hatched 2 chicks yesterday and today , she left the nest with the 2 babies , about 2 feet away from it , there is still 1 pipped egg , peeping away , 1 dead egg and an egg that made me gag ! Should i move the pipped egg to her or just leave it where its at ?

FYI I count this as my November hatch , LOL

/\/\/\ mama is beautiful! What breed is she? I would move the pipped egg under her. toss the smellies

they're alive they're alive they're alive!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm hatching BCMs too! It's been so hard this whole time not really being able to see in them when candling. I've got three that have shown no signs of life, but I can't candle to see what's going on!

This is terrible waiting!

Oh I know!! I have a theory on hatch order.. on day 18 when I candled, some had a clear spot near the bottom (yolk?) and some were completely black. The ones who were completely black hatched early. The ones with a clear spot took longer to absorb(?) but now appear to be coming out! well one is anyway :) I am wondering if this is showing hot/cold spots in my incubator? or what

I have welsummers and BCMs, the Marans are WAY darker and honestly impossible to see into...
