Yes, mommy hen are awesome!! They arew my favourite way to raise chicks!!!Out of the nine shipped eggs I received, two hatched. I was happy though, because at least one of each breed I set hatched. Now here's hoping they're both girls...lol. Look at the cuties below! One cochin and one silkie. It is so cute to watch mommy hen with the little ones.

We want pics...we want pics...!!Final Count - 5 Cream Legbar crosses (out of 7 - 1 clear, 1 bloodring); 2 Cochin X (out of 4 - 1 early quit; 1 still in the bator but I think its DIS) and 11Trader Joes (out of 12 - 1 was clear). I'm over the moon with this hatch -- will post pics when I get home from work today.

It's been a rough week, and I had my first serious egg-cident! I dropped another egg onto this one while candling! I'm concerned for the other egg's air cell, the shell looks fine. But, this one had a dent! I have a huge block of cheese wax... It kinda glopped drips onto the egg. If the chick makes it, I'll thin the wax before lockdown so that it'll be easier to pip and zip through.
Great news, though: my three CL eggs have veining! Yay!

I don't have either breed and never have but I've read a lot of great things about both. Eventually I want to add both breeds to my flock.
