November Hatch-a-long...

I hatched out only 1 Cochin bantams out of an eBay order last month. It was cross beaked and had one eye! I let the seller know but they didn't respond. What kind of chick was it? I've been incubating for over 10 years and have never seen that before!
The hatching eggs were bbs ameraucana and I believe the chick is a black ameraucana. All five of the other chicks are all healthy. It’s getting along well with the other chicks. She/he is even the loudest one! I’m just really worried about what to do with it if it can’t eat or drink in it’s own

If it can't eat and drink on its own, you are going to have to cull it. It will starve to death if it cannot eat on its own and chances are it will not thrive in the real world.

Sorry to be blunt, but that's the best thing to do.

After posting pics the other day, I candled the good egg one more time. The top of the egg pushed in under the light. Turns out the top of the egg was a bit soft, and I didn’t catch it during the first Candling. Ugh. :he

So.. I put wax on the part that broke. I don’t know how well the membranes survived. I’m thinking there are worse places for cracks, but it is still not good. It was the best embryo of the 3, so I’m just sick about it. Will see if it survived on day 18 next week. :fl

Any idea what would cause the top to be soft or thin? (Not sure which) I’ve never run into this before! I didn’t put anymore pressure on it than normal when candling.

I've got an egg currently at day 11 that I dropped and cracked day 4/5 that I patched with electrical tape, and it's doing well, so fingers crossed for yours! As for the egg being soft or thin, it could be any of a multitude of things - hen didn't get enough calcium, changing season effecting the hen's laying cycle, etc. etc...

I fully candled all of my eggs yesterday, only one of mine was taken out so I am down to 11 eggs.

They went into lockdown today. Now I just wait :caf
Good luck!!!

My first egg hatched, my second is drawing down in lockdown, and the next three are looking good!

This is my Delaware cockerel over one of my meat birds I held back that is a white slower growing hybrid strain of broiler. All of these eggs are hers, figured if she is laying, why not!
Mine are Delaware too, but they are crossed with Jersey Giant.

They're not slow growing :gigi wish though. I feel like they came out of the egg being a month old
