November hatch along

Welcome! How many eggs do you have set and how many chicks you got coming? How exciting! :wee

I have 34 eggs set right now. There are 10 welsummers, 7 easter eggers, 12 lavender orpingtons, the singles are from a random set and are RIR, buff orp, blue andalusian, black australorp, and 1 true mystery (the stamp was blurred beyond recognition).

The chicks coming in are 2 of each welsummer, plymouth rock, dominique, australorp, buff orp, easter egger, and RIR

Tomorrow is lock down! I candled the 5 questionable eggs plus 2 for reference on Saturday. The 2 reference were moving around and happy little babies. The 5 questionable were all bad so they were tossed. That means we have 23 eggs in the incubator still and tomorrow we'll do the last candling and then set them to hatch. EEEKKKK!!!! :wee

Good luck you two!! :jumpy:jumpy:jumpy:jumpy

I won't be locking down my first set of 15 eggs until Sunday. Then the second set next Tuesday (only 6 left at this point, on the 6th), and the third set on the 8th (only 2 questionable, the other 10 are looking good).

This is my first broody hatch where I have taken my broody out of GP to brood. And it's going so easily!! Wish I'd done it this way the last few times!

Only mishap I've had is my 5 week olds were weaned by their mumma and they were distraught and found their way into the broody coop and under my new broody!! Her hormones are obviously huge as she didn't mind and just snuggled them under her!! Must admit it was pretty cute! But I had to take them out and block off the way they'd gotten in as I didn't want them messing with the eggs!

This evening will be day 18 for me . I just candled my 5 eggs and 3 look normal, 2 I couldn't get to move and also had a weird black spot, and 1 had the same black spot but moved :hmm not looking so good...I'll try and post pix at next candling

I can’t wait for the first fluffy pics! Broody 1’s eggs are due to hatch Tuesday, broody 2 is due Thursday. We have no idea how many if any chicks we will get from the 20 eggs in total, as we haven’t candled them. I guess we just have to wait and see.
