Oh dear. You need one. Petsmart or Petco in the reptile department. $11 for a temp and hygrometer set.

Ya well, we have a petco and a petsmart, but my Mom is convinced that we do not need one and will refuse to buy one. I really think we need one but oh well..

I am soooo disappointed. I spent sooo much money on all the eggs in the incubators above. I could have bought a TON of day olds at this rate. The incubatorrs ARE maintaining exact temp of 99.5 and 50% humidity. (I am using four different thermometers) This is what I ordered and all were quickly shipped and arrived fine. I let them set for 8 hours before incubating so the aircell could set. Is this normal for shipped eggs? or WHAT AM I DOING WRONG??? besides spending so much.

$35.00 14-Blue Jersey Giants shipped from Florida- 6 going strong
$57.00 24-Silkies shipped from TN- 6 still going 4 late quitters *seller did agree to replace over a dozen FOC
$14.00 20-Pure Mix shipped from MS- 8 going strong
$28.00 6-Turkeys shipped from Upstate NY- 5 going strong
$23.00 20 Quail shipped from Florida- can't tell
$25.00 8 Runner Ducks from NJ- 8 going strong
$11.00 10 Runner Ducks from SC- 9 going strong
$15.00 6 Ring Neck Pheasant shipped from LA- can't tell
$13.50 12 Brahmas shipped from Florida- 6 in lock down

Everything is due to hatch this week except the runners & turkeys.

It seems majority woudn't even start, and then they are dropping off quick. The Turkeys and the runners were only set on the 4th so time will tell with them.
I had figured on 50% hatching...
PLEASE HELP any advise would be appreciated.

UPDATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Six of 6 Brahmas Hatched (one quickly died) and one Jersey Giant , So much in Lockdown right now I can't sleep!!!

I got home from work last night and a FIFTH bantam Barnevelder (out of 9 eggs) had hatched late - on day 25!

PLUS - PLUS - Oh this is SO cool! - A call duck egg was zipping in the MiniAdvance EX 'bator holding 5 call duck eggs and 2 Cayuga egg (the latter are from my own Cayuga pair). That egg HATCHED later! A duckling!

And by this morning, there were 3 little call ducklings in that 'bator!

(Gotta flip to the Duck forum and brag there, now...)

I went into lockdown on Sunday, the 14th and had two babies on the 16th, two more on the 17th and one this morning with at least two more pipping. These were my own eggs and I wanted to see how well my rooster was with all the girls...things are looking good!!

ETA: Hatching my own EE's!!

Lockdown day for me was also 14th..I awoke on the 16th to find 2 babies, more hatched during the day and today at lunch I have a total of 21 out so far..several more pipped and Today is the actual hatch date.

I am hopeful that most all the others hatch..

I had:

BBS cochins, Silver LF Ameraucanas, Silver bantam Ameraucanas, Wellsummers(that I was told were RIR's but the chicks and eggs look to be wellsummers YAY) and some EE"S(they are an off color Ameraucana that lays a blue egg so I call them EE's)

overall I am happy. Using a new bator the genesis 1588 which gave me some quirks with the humidity so we will see...more chicks the better in my eyes!
