I have 15 bbs orp and black Giant cross eggs in the incubator, due Nov 22. I have a Blue Orp roo and a Black Giant roo and 8 Giant hens and 7 Orp hens, I have no Idea what is going to come out of those eggs if anything. This is my first time hatching!!! Totally excited:D

Day 9: I threw out one egg tonight. It *looked* ok, best I can candle a brown egg, but it had a bit of an odor to it. It was also kinda dirty. I've hatched dirty eggs before, but perhaps this one got some bacteria in it. I tossed it without cracking, to be on the safe side smell-wise. 19 eggs still cookin

The eggs are generally looking and feeling good. By feeling, I hand turn my eggs and I can sense the changes in weight as they develop. I find it rather neat and personal to touch my eggs every day, and it doesn't seem to hurt my hatch rates any to open the bator twice a day. I think my incubator is running just a fuzz cool. Like 98 to 99, rather than 99 to 100, but it's a LG and that small of an adjustment is hard to find. I decided to err on slightly cool rather than bake them while I was gone to work. Probably this is because the outside temp has dropped like a rock, so I had to turn the heat on. It went from being 78ish in here (with the a/c maintaining) to 68ish with the heat on, though somewhat warmer in the afternoons when the sun hits. Last time I incubated them right at 99.5 - 100.5 and they hatched about a day early, so I imagine incubating them a little lower might make them hatch out "right on time" lol

i am hoping to get eggs in the mail today

so should be setting them later tonight depending on when the mail get here.

I got the eggs last night. Let them rest until this morning and I just put them in. We're on for the 30th. OMG, I just realized that's my birthday! Party with my peeps!

I have 16 eggs due this weekend (11/14) and set another 14 last night, so due in 3 weeks (11/29). I already have a batch of babies hatched out last week also (plus 1 baby from late October). All are under broodies! Apparently my girls are a bit confused on the seasons.

Hello All,
I set 21 eggs on Oct 18. At day 14 I had to remove 2 that were not fertile. Yesterday was hatch day on Nov. 8. The chicks knew what time it was because the first baby made its appearance at 3am and the rest began to follow all the way up to 6am this morning. Out of the 19 in the bator, I had one that did not hatch, the egg turned out to not have anything in it. I have two that are currently in ICU and they were the last two to hatch. one of them seems to be making a full recovery, while the other is just laying there not doing anything yet. Meanwhile the other 16 are running around giving each other high fives and playing tackle the chick. The daddy of the babies is a buff orp. his name is Sherriff. He is the head honcho out in the coup. Occasionally he likes to sneak off to the other coop and sweet talk the ladies over there, but thats a story for another time. Anyways, the baby momma's are one of the following.....RIR, Isa Brown, BO, White Plymoth Rock, Domineque. I went out to the coup yesterday and had a team meeting with all of the girls and let them know that the babies have arived. They were so excited that they rewarded me with lots more eggs. giving the happy dance and the occational bauk, buak, BAUK...... Sherriff just stood back behind the ladies with his head held high and gave me a wink as to say that he enjoyed his role in the process. My step son was awake to see the first chick enter the world so I gave him the honor of naming the first chick and he named it fluffy. Now that I have 16 running around together, Im not quite sure which one is actually fluffy, but I know he/she is in there. I have raised alot of chicks from day old chicks from the hatchery, but this is my very first batch with a bator. To everyone out there doing a Nov hatch I wish you all the luck and I look forward to the next batch, although it may be a little while because my wife isnt happy with the fact that I just spent 21 days eating, drinking and sleeping in front of the bator.

I had to move mine to the laundry room. It was driving me crazy just sitting there in the living room.
