I previously posted 10 wk old cockerel with leg problems. My cockerel was put in a chicken chair because I thought he had just sprained his leg or foot. He is walking as good as he can now except his ankle bones have completely fused. He can no longer bend them, his joints in general are larger than normal, from my research I believe it is gout. He can only walk on his "elbows now, any idea what this may be other than what I googled? Thanks. I dont know if the humane thing to do would be to keep him under constant care or just cull him.

Are the feet and joints swollen?
Did you ever have any photos of what he looked like standing on his own without the wraps?
What are you feeding, including treats?
What do his joints look like?
Did you give him any vitamins that contained B2?

Also, did you try any physical therapy, gently moving the joint for him, so it would remain mobile? And have you tried soaking his legs in hot (bath temp) water with epsom salts?Given anything for pain or swelling?

The wraps were removed yesterday. I have a hen now showing the same symptoms. Just the copper marans seem to be affected so far the wyandotte hens are fine.

His joints are swollen; I have tried everything and he is worse now than ever. I have a hen bcm showing the same symptoms from the same bloodline as copper. I'll send photos. He is suffering today and closing his eyes when he tries to walk. I gave him aspirin 81mg.

What type of feed are you using? Are the hocks and ankles swollen? Why are you thinking it may be gout? Pictures of the hen’s legs would be good. Mycoplasma synovitis, a bacterial infection of the joints, can be a cause of swollen joints. There are also viral diseases that may cause it.
