I'm new to having backyard chickens and I currently have 2 cream legbar hens, Miss Daisy and Nugget. I never thought this sentence would ever come out of my mouth, but I had to blow dry a chicken yesterday
. So here's what happened... I got home from work and went out to my backyard to see my girls, as I do everyday after work. As soon as they here the sliding door they always come running because they know they're going to get a tasty treat. What happened yesterday was a bit different than every other normal day. I have a pool, but have never had an issue. Plus, they're in a run and are only allowed to free range when someone is home. My fiancé was home yesterday so they were out roaming around. This time when I went out to greet them they were in the grass area on opposite side of the pool. I opened the sliding door and, as usual, they came running only this time Nugget thought she could run across the pool!! I was barely out the door when I heard a splash and a bunch of squawking. I panicked and ran out to rescue my poor girl. It was a bit cool out so even after drying her with a towel she was shivering. So, I decided to take her in the bathroom and attempt to blow dry her. I thought it would be a fight with the loud noise and blowing air, but as soon as I started she loved it! She stood the entire time and just enjoyed her pampering
Needless to say, my panic and worry turned to amusement. Nugget is fine and hopefully learned that she's not Jesus and can't walk across water...probably not
